WORLD HUMANITARIAN SUMMIT YOUTH CONSULTATION IN NIGERIA #ReShapeAid


Nigeria – August 7th, 2015 - Climate Wednesday and AIESEC Nigeria comes together to work on the consultation with different youths from different constituency. We were able to work on some point which we are going to be sharing with you whole group. We are looking at the innovation part of the work.

1.       CHALLENGES OF HUMANITARIAN NEEDS IN NIGERIA

a.      The lack of knowledge and educations in communities
b.      Lack of resources to meet the needs of people affected.

2.       THE NEEDS & ISSUES TO BE ADDRESSED

a.  Government should work on the insurgency of the country and all what is going on. (Boko Haram)
b.  Urgent collaboration on cooperation between nations in the region in order to prevent, assist and rectify the Boko Haram issues in Nigeria
c.  Urgent call for Regional Human Rights Organization on protection to affected people.
d. Stresses the importance of prevention of human trafficking in all area of communities in Nigeria with the help of government, international organizations, and other relevant entities.
e.  Calling upon all parties, including the United Nations especially UNHCR, other relevant International organizations, development partners as well as NGOs to provide assistance as to alleviate the burden of the receiving states.




3.       WHAT ELSE CAN BE DONE TO HUMANITARIAN RESPONSE

a.   More effective response, identification of refugees is needed so that the receiving countries can separate between political/ethnical and economic refugee as both groups have different needs.
b.  Make sure all countries in West and Central Africa to use the international platform to build synergy between each other.
c.  There should be support for funding for humanitarian services for people affected in different regions.
d.  Support for trade and economic sanctions on the country that perpetuate violence on the refugees in order to pressure the country to stop violence against the affected people.

4.      YOUTH AFFECTED BY DISASTER IN DIFFERENT COMMUNITY

a.   Youth suffers a lot when is come to refugees and insurgency issues.
b.  Youth in the affected area needs funding to help with social infrastructures and development which can be use in urgent humanitarian needs which in the long run could have an effect on macro-economics.

5.       YOUTH CONTRIBUTIONS TOWARDS HUMANITARIAN ACTIONS

a.       We need education on Human rights to other youths and organization.
b.      Awareness among all youth around our regions especially among youths
c.       Comes up with campaign that wills up collaboration between all sectors.
d.    Inaugurate youth volunteer organizations that cooperation with the governments in order to send youth to volunteer in the affected area
e. AIESEC Nigeria partners with Climate Wednesday to come up with exchange programmes to affected areas.

6.      ROLE OF PRIVATE SECTORS.

a.     Private sectors should help in fund raising and awareness to all the affected areas in the region and to also monitor the process.
