Nigeria’s Environment Minister tasks Youths on Sustainable Development

NIGERIA - FRIDAY 22ND, 2016 -The Honourable Minister of Environment, Mrs Amina J. Mohammed has called on African Youths to take ownership of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contribute towards their achievement. She stated this while receiving officials of the African Youth Initiative on Population, Health and Development (AfrYPoD) led by its president, Dr Laz Ude Eze. The minister commended the organization’s efforts in building synergy among youth-led organizations in Africa as they support efforts of government on sustainable development.  She also disclosed the plans of the ministry to lead campaigns to promote green environment, good sanitation and elimination of open defaecation. 

 AfrYPoD’s President, Dr Eze had earlier commended the minister for demonstrating huge trust and belief in the ability of young people by appointing one of its co-founder, Ms Esther Agbarakwe as her Senior Aide. The Nigeria Country Representative, Mr Mukhtar A. Ijaiya, Programme Officer Ms Sandra Ibeh and Ms Chioma Chuka from the partner organization TechHer took turns to highlight AfrYPoD-led and AfrYPoD-supported activities for the year 2016.
