How @ClimateWed Celebrate #WorldEnvironmentDay 2017 #WithNature

NIGERIA - Monday 12th June, 2017 - World Environment Day is celebrated on 5th June every year as declared by the UN General Assembly in 1972. The World Environment Day was established to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. United Nations designed World Environment Day as the main tool to create worldwide awareness about hot environment issues.

Main objectives of United Nations behind declaration of World Environment day was to give a human face to environmental issues, empower to become agents of sustainable and equitable development, promote to change attitude towards the environment and advocate partnership between each human being and each society to ensure a safe future.

Climate Wednesday partner with ebios Africa to celebrate the World Environment Day using the means of Sport to connect the youth and citizens to nature. During this celebration we also remind ourselves the important of Sustainable Development Goals where all the participants join hands together in sharing ideas how we can connect to the nature by taken actions in localizing the SDGs for sustainable nature.

In connecting with Nature we were able to:

Promote and further develop forms of sport which are compatible with nature and the environment. Make sports-related infrastructure more environmentally compatible. Reduce damage to vulnerable areas. Preserve and increase the recreational quality of countryside and its enjoyment value for those doing sport.

With the support of UK Government in Nigeria, FABE International and other partners we were able to make a significant effort to engage as more as possible young people in Lagos state.

Furthermore, we heard two different online discussions where we have our guests talking about topics that connect to the heart of people to understand the important of nature with us and we can sustain ourselves.

First Chat: Tabi Joda:
“Pathways to Greening Planet Earth”

Second Chat: Funto Boroffice.
Topic: “Does #Recycling Create More #Waste?”

Thank you all for supporting us in making planet earth greater again.
